7:30 pm. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 – Interest Groups presentations  — Notice – location change — meeting will be in Sanctuary.

Three Interest groups will be sharing some of their work from this past year.

Street Photography Interest Group – led by Aija Stramanis and Heather Engel.  This group meets several times a year to review and discuss street photography images.

The Night Photography Interest Group – led by John Strung.  This group has been on several outings this year.

The Photography Friends Interest Group – which meets once a month to challenge each other with ideas and projects.  They will present one of their projects as initiated by Janet Kempster.  The project was to make photographs that were influenced by the style of a particular artist, mostly from the modern era.

“Painting with the camera”

Learn to use Low Shutter Speed

Use your camera to create unique images. Truly “paint with the camera” by learning to use slow shutter speed, while the camera is moving. Many examples will be shared with the audience. Learn simple tricks that result in a successful image. Be experimental, resulting in “one of a kind” creations. Use minimum level of the post-processing to further improve the capture.

Juraj is a highly motivated and enthusiastic photographic speaker. Over 35 years of photographic experiences in varied genre are synthesized in a spontaneous and light hearted presenter. His seminars and workshops are visually illustrated and supported by up to date technical information in digital photography as well as in his unique creative style. His presentations are inspirational, dynamic and down to earth packed with topical and educational material. Juraj is an Eleven Star Master and past President of The Hamilton Camera Club.

Burlington Seniors Centre

2285 New St, Burlington

The Trillium Photographic Club joins with the Latow Photographers Guild and the Hamilton Camera Club for a joint print and audio‑visual exhibition this year to be held at the Burlington Seniors Centre on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Doors open at 7:00 pm.

There will be print show and refreshments from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in one auditorium followed by an A/V show in the adjacent auditorium from 8:00 – 9:00 pm

Refreshments will be provided Members are encouraged to come and invite guests.

ADVANCE TICKETS will be on sale at the membership desk at all meetings between January 9 and March 6. Ticket prices to be announced closer to the event.

Experienced club members will offer constructive commentary on members’ images.

This is to be a learning experience, so submit images where you wants answers and not images that might be your best work.

Submit up to a maximum of 5 images of any subject or technique to Judy Bufford no later than Tuesday, March 27 at midnight. Her email addresse will be included in an email to all members prior to the due date. You will receive a confirmation of receipt of the images. The images are to be sized as for clinics and should be numbered followed by your name. I.e., 01 Jane Doe; 02 Jane Doe etc.

The images can be from a prior clinic or intended for a future clinic. We will critique as many as possible for each participant as time allows it.

“Wildlife and Birds”

Michael offers world class nature and wildlife photography tours and workshops in Algonquin Park and other great locations in Canada and around the globe. Michael tailors to meet the needs of each photographer, regardless of skill level or camera equipment. The focus is on helping them improve their wildlife photography skills such as: proper composition and exposure, when to use different camera focus modes, long lens and tripod techniques, lens selection, animal behaviour as well as expanding their creativity.

Awards Presentations, Desserts, Coffee & Tea

This is a special evening with desserts, tea and coffee provided for members and guests. Tables are set up in Peart Hall for you to enjoy the snacks and beverages.

Club Members are asked to bring a desert with them, – something sweet or savoury.  Those who are not bakers may bring a treat from the grocery store or bake shop.  Those not bringing a desert will be charged a $10. fee at the door.  Volunteers are needed for setup on May 8th around 2:00 pm and again around 6:30 pm.  Help will also be needed following the meeting for clean up.

After some socializing, the Annual Awards will be presented.

  • Year – End Awards: Images winning awards in the Year End Competition will be shown.
  • Club Awards: Proficiency awards for each level: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Masters along with Photographer of the Year. (Refer to the Members’ Handbook to see how awards are calculated).

An Audio Visual Show concludes the evening. This consists of a selection of the images that were submitted to the Year-End competition.

Members are very welcome to bring guests to the Awards night.
